Outlook is one of the best email suites available in the market. Outlook is provided by Microsoft and is the most used application for business email communication. In Outlook all your email messages, calendar, tasks, and other items are saved on a different mail server and maybe on your computer. These items are stored in a different extension altogether. This extension is called .ost or .pst and the files stored in this extension are called Outlook data file.

Outlook data file can be a message, any attachment or any calendar. It depends on what data is being stored. Outlook stored the files in this extension as it is more secure and provides more space for both server and computer to store. When you change the machine you are using, you can just copy the outlook data files and get your data.

You also have the option to set the password in an Outlook data file which makes it secure and reliable to store any email messages. You can update the password of your Outlook data file very easily. The process for the same is described below:

Step 1) Open your outlook application and click on the File option.

Step 2) From the File option go to Account Settings

Step 3) Next go to Data Files tab and click the Outlook Data File (.pst) for the file for which the password is to be changed and then click change password.

Step 4) Change the password to what you want the new password to be and click OK. keep a password that you are likely to remember as the file would not open without the password. Save the password once you have changed it.
